Zoo School and Swim Lessons Oh My!

It has been a super busy week in the Tate house. William and Mommy took 4 days worth of zoo classes this week. We learned all about Climbers and Swingers. William just loves the zoo and he quickly made friends with his teacher Ms. Barbara. He always asked questions and had funny things to say about each of the animals. What I loved the most was how detail oriented William is. The San Antonio Zoo is amazing in it's set up for the smaller children. They have a whole area dedicated to kids under the age of 5. Even in the larger exhibits they sneak in some things for the little ones. One of those things that William discovered were some holes in the walls of one exhibit where the zoo had tucked in little weasels or squirrels to make it look like they were also living there. Neither Mommy nor Ms. Barbara had even realized they were there until Will pointed them out. And we are there A LOT! All in all William really enjoyed his classes and Mommy enjoyed spending some quality time with William. Thank you Daddy for the awesome gift!

Tuesday through Friday of this week (and next!) William is taking swimming lessons through the YMCA. He loves it and Daddy loves going with him. William is doing very well in the water and isn't afraid to try and swim. We are very proud of him!

We are looking forward to weekend and having some family fun! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Happy Sunday!

We've had a great weekend so far and wanted to just post a little update since it has been a few weeks.

We have had a very busy and challenging past couple of weeks, but we always try to have a little fun when we can. This weekend has been a great weekend. William is always such fun and lately his little personality is just really showing. He is such a funny little boy. He has all of us laughing pretty much all the time.

Yesterday William and Daddy spent the morning in a "Build Your Own Monster Truck" class at Lowes. They had so much fun and William was really excited to build his truck. He wants to paint it now :-)

Mommy decided that Sunday morning would be an adventure at the zoo with a picnic breakfast. We asked William who he wanted to eat with and he very quick said Daisy. Daisy is his favorite animal and is a giraffe. He believes Daisy is his. We packed up some muffins, eggs, and juice and headed to the zoo. During the hot summer months the zoo opens as early as 7:30 for members and we took advantage of it. That is the perfect time to go to the zoo. Not many people and you can still see some of the animals sleeping. It was a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time watching some silly monkeys chase and play with each other. They were very cute. Daisy made her big appearance of the morning right when we were ready for breakfast. Will was just too excited and kept saying "Good Morning my Daisy!"

We may do a little swimming this afternoon before our work week begins again tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Will's Summer Adventure (Part 1) at the Farm

What a fun, crazy, and exciting week this has been for our little family. Colby started his new position on Monday, which he absolutely loves so far, and Sara went back to work for the month of June. William spent most of the week at his Memaw and Pawpaw's farm. They had a blast. We had to share some of the pictures from their great adventure with him.

Memaw and Pawpaw brought him back to Cibolo on Thursday, and boy were we glad to see him. Mommy and Daddy missed him very, very much. William was so excited to be home. If we didn't know better we might suspect that coffee was slipped to the boy Thursday night, but we think all of the excitement just got to him. It was really very cute.Today we spent the day exploring some of the lavender farms near Blanco. It is Blanco's annual lavender festival and we had a really nice time. We even tried lavender ice cream. :-) After our farming adventure we had lunch in Johnson City and said our good byes to Memaw and Pawpaw. It was sad to see them go, but William can't wait for his next farm adventure in August.

We hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Until next time :-)

What a Spring!

We have to apologize for the lack of posts this spring, but it has been a crazy few months. Here is a little brief summary of what has been going on in our lives since February.

For Colby the biggest news is that he will begin a new position at a new company this June!!!! We are SO excited for him!! He has been working in Boerne for the past year as a Quality Control/Project Manager for a medical device manufacturer. Colby will be working as a project manager for another medical device company in the San Antonio area.

Sara finished her first year as a full time faculty member at a local community college. She also served as the chair for the 2010 San Antonio Arthritis Walk. The walk raised close to $30,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. She also took a Biochemistry class this spring as part of her promotion process at work, and has been enjoying her last 2 weeks off from teaching :-) 2 more and then she teaches the month of June and is off July :-).

William turned 3 in April! We cannot believe that our beautiful baby boy is 3 years old!! Where does the time go?! We had a birthday party for him at McDonald's and some of his friends from school came. He was so excited to finally have his OWN birthday party. What does Will like to do right now? He loves to play outside and investigate bugs, in particular he loves rollie pollies and caterpillars. He is really interested in animals of all kinds. He also loves to do puzzles. He can now complete 60 piece puzzles on his own. He loves to sing and play games, and his current favorite show is Bob the Builder. He also loves the movie CARS. He really enjoys imaginative play now, and is constantly playing "farm" with his horses and animals. He even has a play white truck like his PawPaw that he loves to play with. We just adore our little guy :-)

Team Tate won an egg decorating contest at William's school with our creation of Super Egg! It really was a team effort. All of us helped create him, and William was SO proud.

Will and his prize!

Nana is still with us and just started her new job as an HR Assistant at Ben E. Keith today. We are very proud of her!

We will be headed to the beach in a week for a few days of relaxation and beach fun. We can not wait! Here are a few pictures from the past few months. We hope you enjoy them!

A Weekend at the Farm

As the saying goes "Better Late than Never!"

William got to spend about 3 days with Memaw and Pawpaw on the farm around the 12th of this month. Pawpaw came down to San Antonio to pick him up and they headed back to the farm that Thursday. Will was so very excited to see his beloved Memaw and horse Tess. William had such a fantastic time feeding the animals and spending time with his grandparents. Will was also able to spend some time playing with his second cousins Dani, Neil, Kati, Mark, and Lee. All range in age from almost 4 to almost 1 year. Lots of little ones having a great time.

Mommy and Daddy headed up to the farm that Saturday to pick up their little monkey. They sure did miss him, but are thankful for the time William was able to have with his Memaw and Pawpaw. Sunday morning was quite an adventure. We all helped Pawpaw tag his cows. Well...Memaw and William helped us round them up and then they played at the house while Daddy and Pawpaw tagged. Mommy helped supervise, but she did tag one cow. Hooray! Before we left Daddy helped Memaw plant 4 blackberry bushes, and William had us act like "happy", "sad", and "mad" trees. It was great fun!

Here are some pictures from William's great adventure with Memaw and Pawpaw.

We are in the process of updating William's room...AGAIN! Thursday night William announced that he no longer liked his "baby" bed. His baby bed is really a toddler bed. Yesterday we set up his new twin big boy "cowboy" bed. For some reason Will has been equating his twin bed with a cowboy bed and now wants a cowboy room. Good thing we can change it pretty easily. Look for some pictures of his new room in the near future.

William in 2010

Happy Sunday everyone! Today marks the end of Mommy's vacation, and the return to our normal routine. BOO!!! We had a great day together as a family, and are starting to plan the rest of our weekends this month. We truly treasure our time together, and know we are blessed. We really do live for our weekends together. :-)

As 2010 begins we thought it might be nice for those of you who don't get to see William that often to have a better idea of what is he up to, his personality, and the things he is able to do so far. We feel like there is so much more to include in this list, and it may change as we think to add things. The plan is to add a list at the end of the year to see how much more he can do. We still can't believe our baby will be 3 in April!

can use tools and enjoys "fixing" things.
uses basic sentences now and is very inquisitive.
loves cows and horses.
enjoys playing with cars, trains, and trucks.
always wants chicken nuggets and french fries.
is starting to really use imaginative play. He even talks to his friends at school while playing at home.
remembers his relatives and talks about them.
loves the great outdoors.
has really started to show his personality by playing silly jokes on us.
enjoys going to school.
loves to play memory on Mommy's phone.
really enjoys puzzles and play do.
has a girlfriend and even talks about her away from school.
loves to wear his hippo towel after his bath and run around the house yelling "I'm a hippo! ROAR!"

Mommy is almost perfectly happy with her New Year's Resolutions and may post them later this week along with Daddy's (if he has any). Hoping everyone has a fantastic week.

Happy 2010!

We had such a great time saying good-bye to 2009! Our good friend Valerie came down from San Marcos to spend some time with us. We love seeing her! Will just adores "Battery" at least that is what he thinks her name is. :-) William's godfather and Colby's BFF, Joshua, came down from Austin to spend the evening with us. We had a blast, and William really enjoys playing with him. When he woke up this morning he kept talking about Joshua having to go home last night. Such a silly boy.

We were all lazy bones and fell asleep before midnight! OMG! We know! We are really bad, but we did enjoy our evening of fondue and visiting with our friends and family. In our defense we did celebrate and do a countdown during Brazil's New Year. We wanted William to experience New Year's and we figured he wouldn't make it to midnight. No one expected that the rest of us wouldn't either ;-)

William and Valerie aka "Battery"

Happy New Year Brazil!

The boys

This morning we welcomed 2010 in with our traditional bagels and locks breakfast. William had an English muffin and opted out of the locks. We also made a yummy fresh fruit salad.

Ready for breakfast!

The rest of the day we are watching football and eating chili. We just love our holiday traditions! We plan on just having some nice family time together this weekend before Mommy heads back to work. Boo! Mommy and Daddy may even have their first date night of 2010 tomorrow night. Woo hoo!

We hope everyone had a wonderful end to your 2009 and a fantastic beginning to your 2010!

One of our New Year's Resolutions is to update our blog more often. Hopefully that is one we can keep.
